Snowy trees sitting atop splendorous, serene hills, still, in quiet solitude during the heart of winter. Crisp breezes and the crunch of snow underfoot, the smell of pine and cold teasing your senses with winter-y goodness. Old World lace and mistletoe hung from the rafters. All of these speak to me of Christmas and I thought to incorporate some of that seasonal nostalgia into these socks. I hope you find some of that nostalgia whilst knitting these lovelies.
Please note this is a pattern for hand knit socks. The product pictured is the sample knit and is not for sale.
Pattern is written for an "average" women's medium. It is based on foot circumference and intended for an 8" foot circumference. Length is easily adjustable.
I determine foot circumference by the actual foot circumference measurement. Finished sock (in gauge established in pattern) will fit an 8" foot circumference with about 5-10% of negative ease. Example: 8" foot circumference=about 5% negative ease; 8 1/2" foot circumference=about 7% negative ease; 9" foot circumference= about 10% negative ease.
Sample was knit using The Knitting Goddess 4-ply sock (2 skeins) and using 2.25mm needles.
Pattern has both written and charted instructions.
It is a cuff/top down knitting pattern with a picot cuff, lace, cables, Eye of Partridge heel and wedge toe.
I would consider this pattern to be Intermediate.
While the lace is not extremely complex, it is a longer repeat than I would suggest for the beginner. Knowledge of knitting terms, lace knitting stitches, sock construction and Kitchener St. (as this is a cuff down pattern) are needed.
I always recommend swatching for gauge and reading the pattern in its entirety prior to beginning, to ensure a proper fitting sock and to ensure there are no surprises!
All of my patterns are my original designs and every effort is made to be as accurate and easy to follow as possible. If you have any questions, please convo me. I'm happy to help😊
